Silverbacks land two experienced forwards

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce the commitment of two experienced forwards, Cole Cooksey (’05) and Christian Kim (‘05), for the 2023-24 season.

Cooksey joins the Silverbacks having played last season with the Markham Royals in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). In 54 games, the 18-year-old scored 26 goals, adding in 16 assists, for 42 points.

“Cole is a natural goal scorer that will be a great addition to our forward group and we feel he can step into our lineup and contribute offensively,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen.

The Toronto native is committed to play for Merrimack College in the NCAA.

“I can’t wait to be a part of this organization and wear the Silverback’s jersey,” said Cooksey.

Kim played last year with the Wenatchee Wild and became a free agent with the Wild moving to the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 50 games played last season, the Torrance California native scored 10 goals and helped out with 18 assists for 28 points.

“To add a BCHL veteran to our lineup with the skill that Christian has, we felt was something we couldn’t pass up,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen. “Having the experience competing in our tough division and into playoffs we feel his experience last year will be beneficial to our lineup this season.”

The 18-year-old is committed to play NCAA hockey at Michigan State University.

“I am very excited to join Salmon Arm next season,” said Kim. “I felt that it was the best fit for me and I’m looking forward to making an impact.”

The Silverbacks would like to welcome both Cole and Christian and his family to the Silverbacks organization and to Salmon Arm.
