Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks were in Royal LePage Place for game 2 against the West Kelowna Warriors.

Carrying the momentum from the game 1 win, the Silverbacks jumped out to the early first-period lead. 25 seconds into the game, Nathan Mackie hammers home the puck for a quick lead. The Silverbacks had an opportunity on the powerplay to end the opening frame but could not capitalize.

A back-and-forth second period saw the Warriors grab their first lead of the series. Five minutes into the second period, Jackson Kyrkostas tucks home a rebound at the side of the net to tie up the game, 1-1. Coming out of the BCHL media timeout, Jack Pridham sneaks back door and hammers home a one-timer for the 2-1 Warriors lead. Answering back was the Silverbacks with JJ Monteiro deflecting a shot from the blueline to tie up the game 2-2. On the ensuing faceoff, Landon Hilditch gets hauled off to the box with a high-sticking penalty, sending the Silverbacks to the powerplay with momentum. But halting an opportunities was Vigo Nordstrom who drove down the ice shorthanded and found the top corner to give the Warriors the lead back, 3-2.

The Silverbacks have a comeback in the third period. Trying to put the game away, Jack Pridham gets his second of the contest when he forces a turnover in Salmon Arm’s end, 4-2. The comeback effort starts to get underway for the Silverbacks less than a minute later. Cole Cooksey takes a centering feed while streaking towards the net and slides one past the left pad with a beautiful breakaway move to cut the lead, 4-3. With time winding down in the final frame, the Silverbacks get a golden chance when Jack Farrell gets called for a roughing penalty, giving Salmon Arm their third powerplay of the game. JJ Monteiro finishes off a double tip in front of the net to tie up the game with just over six minutes to go in the third.

Game 2 needed overtime. It didn’t take long for the Warriors to score and win the game on home-ice when Carter Oakenfold forces the turnover and gets the puck into the net on a breakaway.

Eli Pulver made 37/42 saves, while the Silverbacks were outshot 42-24, to have this series go even, 1-1.
