Head Coach Shattock staying with the Silverbacks for two more years

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are happy to announce a two-year extension for Head Coach and Assistant General Manager, Tyler Shattock.

Shattock has been with the organization for five seasons, spending the first two as an Assistant Coach. He was promoted to interim Head Coach for the final 20 games of the 2019-2020 season and since that time, Shattock has an 81-47-13-7 record.

Last season, Shattock lead the Silverbacks to the Interior Conference Finals for the first time since the 2008-2009 season.

“Tyler has continued to play a major role in our organization’s success,” said Silverbacks GM Brooks Christensen. “He’s done a great job at coaching a competitive team over these past couple of years and developing players to move onto the next level. It’s been a pleasure to get to work with him and put together a team that we are very excited about for this upcoming season.”

Shattock, a hometown Salmon Arm native, has spent the past three seasons as Head Coach for the Silverbacks and is excited for more.

“I’m excited to be back with the Silverbacks for another two years. We have taken tremendous steps forward in building a team and an organization that is competitive year after year,” said Silverbacks Head Coach and Assistant GM, Tyler Shattock. “I look forward to continuing with this organization and seeing what we can accomplish together over the next two years. I am excited to continue to build off the momentum we have created. Thank you to Brooks and the Silverbacks owners for believing in me to continue to lead this team. We look forward to continuing to provide the community with great entertainment on the ice, and great kids in the community. Thank you also to the fans. You have made the Shaw Centre an electric environment these last 2 years. I know our players love to play for you! I Can’t wait to see everyone back out for game one on September 22.”

Previous to joining the Silverbacks organization, Shattock won a Western Hockey League (WHL) championship with the Calgary Hitmen in the 2009-2010 season, leading him to be selected in the 4th round of the NHL draft to the St. Louis Blues, before heading on to play professional hockey in the American Hockey League (AHL), the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), and spending a season overseas playing in the United Kingdom in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).
