Silverbacks bounce back to beat Blackfalds, 3-1

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks wrapped up their first road trip of the season against the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

Neither team found the back of the net in the first period with many good chances for Blackfalds. The Silverbacks took three penalties in the opening frame but thankfully were able to kill off all of them. Blackfalds jumped out to the shots on goal lead at 10-6.

Both teams were able to get on the board in the second period. Starting things off with the scoring was a bar down snipe from Jaden Johnson in the slot for his second goal of the year for the 1-0 Silverbacks lead. Back on the powerplay in the final 20 seconds of the frame, the Bulldogs pressure the crease and are able to slid the puck in with 0.1 seconds left on the clock to tie up the game 1-1.

The Silverbacks offense comes to life in the third period. Two minutes in Grady Hoffman scores his first in the BCHL to give the Silverbacks the lead, 2-1. Five minutes later, Liam Bursaw takes a give-and-go and finishes it off down low for his first of the season, extending the lead 3-1. The Silverbacks killed off two more penalties to end the game.

Daniel Dirracolo gets his second win of the season, stopping 34/35 shots faced.
