Silverbacks name August Aiken as U.S. Scout

SALMON ARM, BC  The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have named August Aiken as U.S. Scout, strengthening the organization’s recruiting presence south of the border.

Aiken brings a unique combination of elite youth coaching experience, scouting insight, and a deep connection to the Silverbacks organization. Currently the Head Coach of the U18 AAA Anaheim Jr. Ducks, he works directly with top-tier U.S. prospects and has a strong track record of identifying players ready to transition to junior hockey.

“A big priority for us is continuing to expand and strengthen our U.S. recruiting,” said President of Hockey Operations Jamie Storr. “August brings direct access to elite talent and understands what it takes for players to make the jump to our level. Just as important, he knows this organization and what it stands for.”

Aiken is a former Silverbacks player, giving him firsthand knowledge of the program, the community, and the BCHL. His playing career included three seasons in the BCHL, followed by NCAA hockey at the University of Alaska Anchorage and four years of professional experience, highlighted by a championship season in 2014.

Behind the bench, Aiken has spent over a decade with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks program and has led the U18 AAA team for nine seasons, guiding them to USA Hockey Youth Nationals seven times in the past eight years.

In his role with the Silverbacks, Aiken will focus on identifying and recruiting top U.S. talent while supporting the club’s broader player development strategy.

“Excited to join the Silverbacks in this role,” said Aiken. “This is an organization I know well, and I’m looking forward to helping identify and develop players who can succeed both in Salmon Arm and beyond.”

The addition of Aiken reinforces the Silverbacks commitment to building a strong pipeline of talent from key recruiting regions.
