SALMON ARM, BC — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have named Mark Ferner as Special Advisor to the President of Hockey Operations, adding an experienced voice to support the club’s hockey operations group.
Ferner brings over 15 years of professional playing experience and more than 16 years as a coach and evaluator. He played in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, and Detroit Red Wings.
Following his playing career, Ferner led the Vernon Vipers for nine seasons, guiding the program to three consecutive National Championship (RBC Cup) Final appearances, as well as being named BCHL Coach of the Year twice. He also coached in the WHL, serving as head coach with the Everett Silvertips and as an assistant with the Kamloops Blazers, and worked as an amateur scout with the Buffalo Sabres.
“Hockey is a small world, and surrounding yourself with people like Mark makes everyone better,” said President of Hockey Operations Jamie Storr. “We go back to our early days in the NHL, and I’ve seen firsthand the standard he brings. His experience will be a strong asset to our group.”
Ferner will work with the hockey operations group, providing strategic input and support across player development, evaluation, and overall program direction.on
