Say Named BCHL Goaltender of The Year

The BCHL announced their Regular Season awards today, and Goaltender Owen Say was named Goaltender of the Year! Say was announced as a finalist along with Cooper Black (Nanaimo Clippers) and Hobie Hedquist (Alberni Valley Bulldogs) at the beginning of the month. Say posted a 23-10-5 record this season to go along with his 2.44 GAA and sparkling .923 SV%. In terms of the goaltending leaderboards, he finished 4th in wins (23), 2nd in SV% (.923), 4th in GAA (2.44) and 4th in shutouts (3). He was a workhorse in the net for the Silverbacks, starting 38 of 54 games; only Hedquist played more minutes this season. Say also posted three shutouts this season, and his .923 SV% was a Silverbacks Franchise record. In addition, he won 17 of his first 20 starts to begin the year, helping the Backs jump out to a great start. Say now becomes the first goaltender in Silverbacks Franchise history to win this award.

“For the past two years, Owen has been the backbone of our team. His competitiveness to want to stop every puck is what drove him to have such a great season,” said Head Coach Tyler Shattock. “He gave us a chance to win every night, and that’s all you can ask for from your starting goalie. We wish Owen the best of luck at Mercyhurst University and know he will do great things there as well,”

Congratulations, Owen, on an incredible achievement!
