The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce that Trainer Les Cleverly has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him on the staff through the 2023-24 season.
“It was a great hockey season, and I really enjoyed working with the team and staff,” said Cleverly. “I can’t say enough good things about the Silverbacks organization, and I’m looking forward to continuing my role as Trainer/Equipment Manager. All the best to the players moving on, and I can’t wait for an exciting 2022/23 season,” added Cleverly.
Cleverly brings a wealth of knowledge with him. He has served in BC Ambulance for over 30 years as a Paramedic. Les also has worked within BC Hockey for the last seven years as the Lead Trainer for the U16 Men’s and U18 Female Programs. He recently was a part of two Gold Medal teams; the 2021 WHL Cup and U18 Females.
Before his time with the Silverbacks, Les worked in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Trail Smoke Eaters. He also spent time in the Western Hockey League with the Kelowna Rockets, serving as an Associate Trainer.
General Manager Brooks Christensen is thrilled to have Cleverly on board for two more seasons.
“Since the day Les arrived, he has fit in perfectly with our staff,” said General Manager Brooks Christensen. “His experience in his field of work is a bonus to our team and the safety of our players. I’d also like to welcome Les’ wife Danielle & son Mannix to the community of Salmon Arm,” added Christensen.
