Tassy Named BCHL’s Most Valuable Player

The BCHL announced their Regular Season awards today, and Forward Simon Tassy was named the Vern Dye Most Valuable Player. This is the 4th time a Silverback has won this award. Landon Smith (2014), Mark Zengerle (2009), and Travis Zajac (2004) all won the award previously in team history. Tassy lit the BCHL on fire in his third season in the league. He finished the season with 38 goals and 40 assists and trailed only Matthew Wood and Ellis Rickwood (Victoria) in the points race, finishing with 78. Tassy was nothing short of dominant in 2022. His ability to strike on special teams was like none other; his nine powerplay goals were tied for 5th in the league, and he led the BCHL with seven shorthanded markers. Tassy also led the league in game-winning goals with nine. In addition, Tassy had a stretch throughout the year where he picked up a point in 23 of 25 games with 42 points in that stretch.

“Our organization is extremely proud of Simon’s accomplishments. From the day he arrived in Salmon Arm, he has continued to work hard and has earned everything he has received,” said General Manager Brooks Christensen. “We’d like to thank Simon for everything he has done for the Silverbacks organization over his three years in Salmon Arm,”

We wish Tassy all the best at Minnesota State and Congratulations on winning such a prestigious award!
