Cochrane Moving On

SALMON ARM, B.C.: After serving as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks' Assistant Coach, Carter Cochrane has accepted a new opportunity and will be leaving the organization this upcoming hockey season.

Before joining the Silverbacks, Cochrane was the head coach of the BC Major Midget League’s Thompson Blazers during the 2018-19 season, before joining the Backs midway through the next season. He also played for the Silverbacks recording 16-points in 25 games as a defenceman.

“I can’t thank everyone in Salmon Arm enough for everything over the last 3 years," said Cochrane. "The ownership group, Brooks, and Tyler have supported me in growing as a person and coach immensely. Thank you to all the players for their hard work and dedication. I can’t wait to watch from a far and see what’s in store for the team this season and in the future!”

Meanwhile Silverbacks GM Brooks Christensen says it's tough to see him move on.

“It’s the tough part about not only developing players but staff, Carter has done a tremendous job in our organization over his time here in Salmon Arm. He’s played a big role in helping with the direction of our teams success and can’t thank him enough for the dedication and time he’s put in. We wish him all the best in his new opportunity.”

Christensen says the the team will now be looking for a new replacement in the near future.
