Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Elijiah Barriga has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 13, the league announced Monday.
Barriga scored four times and added two helpers as the ‘Backs picked up five of a possible six points for the week. The native of West Covina, Calif. was named 1st Star after tallying twice, including the game-winner, and adding an assist in a 5-2 road win in Vernon to open the week. He had a goal and an assist the next game, a 5-2 win over the Penticton Vees, and wrapped his week by scoring the goal to force overtime and earn a point for Salmon Arm in an eventual 4-3 double-OT loss to Penticton.
Half of Barriga’s eight goals on the season were scored last week.
