‘Backs Bolster Hopes In Interior Race

Salmon Arm now holds a four point lead over Merritt in the Interior Division standings, following Saturday's 4-2 victory on home ice.

Angus Redmond made 32 saves for the SilverBacks, for his 8th victory of the season, as the team prepares for a three game road swing, next Weekend.

Merritt opened the scoring on the PP, in the 1st Period, thanks to Adam Tracey, but the 'Backs were boosted by a brilliant Michael Roberts marker top the top corner, in the final :10 of the Period, that tied the game at 1-1.

The game carried a defensive pace until Salmon Arm's Jeff Kennedy tipped home a point shot from Andrew Farny for a 2-1 lead, just :24 before Kennedy crashed the net with Colton Thibault and Connor Brown-Maloski for a 3-1 marker from the side of the crease.

The 'Backs grabbed another marker in the final minute of a period, when Alex Gillies beat Merritt's Devon Kero for a 4-1 advantage.

Merritt added a goal in the 3rd Period for a 4-2 final, but Angus Redmond was the story with 14 saves in the frame.

Salmon Arm plays next Friday in Powell River, Alberni Valley on Saturday and Cowichan Valley on Sunday.
