SilverBacks Fall By One At Home

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks will look for redemption on Saturday against the Merritt Centennials, after Friday's 2-1 loss on home ice to the Nanaimo Clippers.

Nanaimo's Anthony Sabitsky opened the scoring in Friday's 1st Period to give the Clippers a 1-0 advantage; which lasted until the 2nd Period, when Landon Smith scored his league-leading 34th goal of the season on a partial break-away.

One of Salmon Arm's best chances to grab a 2nd goal in the game went to Alex Gillies, who nearly found the open cage on a gaffe behind the Clippers' goal.

The Clippers took the lead mid-way through the 2nd Period on a marker by Sheldon Rempal; who ended up with the Game Winner in a 2-1 final.

Both teams went 0 for 2 on the man advantage, while Angus Redmond did his best to shut the door, especially in a scoreless 3rd Period, with 25 saves overall.

Salmon Arm hosts Merritt at the Shaw Centre on Saturday, January 4th, at 7pm.
