Tribe Trip ‘Backs

The SilverBacks 3 game winning streak is over, after the West Kelowna Warriors came to the Shaw Centre; Sunday Afternoon, and defeated the 'Backs by a score of 4-1, thanks to three points from Seb Lloyd.

In the 1st, the Backs came out in the rare Home Purple uniforms, against the Warriors playing in White, Shaw Centre fans got a scoreless 1st that was very defensive minded, with shots 6-5 in favour of the Warriors.

West Kelowna broke out in the middle frame, when Adam Osczevski roofed his 2nd of the season from Brett Mennear on a one-timer. The Warriors weren't close to done there, as David Pope then beat 'Backs Goaltender Adam Clark top-shelf for a 2-0 lead.

The Warriors then made it 3-0, on the 2nd half of a double-minor penalty against Salmon Arm at 16:06 of the 2nd period. It was an unfortunate turn of events as the SilverBacks peppered Warriors Goalie Andy Desautels with tons of quality chances before the Warriors took over the score-board. Despite being out-shot 17-15 the Warriors had that commanding 3-0 lead through 40 minutes of play.

Down by 3 in the 3rd, the 'Backs needed an early goal, but it was the Warriors Jason Cotton who scored on a beautiful back-hand past Adam Clark for a 4-0 advantage.

The Backs got on the score-sheet with Gillies' 21st of the season, from Colton Thibault and Michael Roberts, on the power-play which ended Andy Desautels bid for his first shutout of the year. Despite not picking up the shutout, he picked up the game's 1st star with 25 saves in the win.

The SilverBacks now take to the road for their next game Tuesday, December the 10th in Trail, tune in on 93.7 Voice of the Shuswap, BCHL Fast Hockey or at www.mixlr.com/sasilverbacks for the call.
