SilverBacks Power Past ‘Men

The top line in the BCHL picked up the game's 3 stars on Saturday, combining for 7 points in the SilverBacks 4-1 win over the Langley Rivermen.

Coming off two wins over Trail, in a home and home, last weekend, the SilverBacks looked to improve on their impressive home record of 9-4-0-2, as they hosted the Langley Rivermen for the first and only time in this Season, after the Rivermen had topped Salmon Arm in a close game, last month.

The SilverBacks exploded with one of their best 1st periods of the season, as Rookie Defencemen Cole McAskill made an unbelievable spin-o-rama move from center ice to get the puck on net for his 2nd of the season, thanks to a Jeff Kennedy shot and re-bound.

McCaskill's defensive partner on the night, Captain Blake Box, scored his 1st goal of the year; officially, as he had a goal taken from him in Trail last week, his marker made the game 2-0 at 13:59 of the 2nd period.

Max Becker then scored on the power-play, giving Salmon Arm a commanding 3-0 lead through 20 minutes.

Langley scored the 2nd's lone goal, when Gage Torrel’s one-timer beat 'Backs Netminder Adam Clark, thanks to a feed from Austin Azurdia that cut the Salmon Arm lead to 3-1.

In the final period of play; with a 2 goal lead on home ice, the SilverBacks Landon Smith picked up his 24th goal, and 48th point, to give his squad a 4-1 advantage.

Adam Clark made 27 saves in his 10th win of the season, it was also the Backs 10th win at home, and 16th win of the year through 31 games.

The SilverBacks host the West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday, at 3pm, at the Shaw Centre.
