Silverbacks shutout 4-0 by Centennials

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The home-and-home series wrapped up in Merritt as the Salmon Arm Silverbacks took on the Centennials on Saturday looking for revenge.

A familiar face grabbed the early lead for the Centennials in the first period. Five minutes into the game, former Silverback Matthew Gillard sent a puck top corner for his first career BCHL goal to give the Centennials the 1-0 lead. As the period was winding down, the Centennials doubled their lead when Jack Ziliotto found the back of the night in the final three minutes.

The Centennials would add on to the lead in the second period. Halfway through the period, Adam Boatter would take the Silverbacks first penalty as he went off for a trip. On the powerplay, Zach Losier ripped one past for the man advantage goal, making it a 3-0 game. The rest of the middle frame saw the Silverbacks with a couple of powerplays but unable to take advantage of either.

In the third period, the Centennials put the game away. Almost nine minutes into the final frame, Kiernan Poulin finished off a back-door passing play by going bar down to make it 4-0. Both teams exchanged penalties the rest of the 12 minutes.

Eli Pulver made 29/33 saves in the game.
