Silverbacks get revenge on Centennials, 5-2

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks took on the Merritt Centennials, for the third time in a row, looking for revenge.

The first period didn’t start as the Silverbacks hoped but they were able to bounce back quickly. Three minutes into the game, Easton Ryan got the Centennials on the board when he snuck one through for the early 1-0 lead. Answering back was Ty Paisley who found a loose puck in front to tie up the game 1-1. The Silverbacks had a 5-on-3 powerplay to end the period but could not capitalize.

The Silverbacks took the lead in the second period and never looked back. It was the Silverbacks turn to strike three minutes into a period as Cole Cooksey sniped home his 15th of the season to give the Silverbacks the brief 2-1 lead. Just past 12 minutes into the middle frame, Dylan Wegner ties up the game, 2-2, when he roofed one short side in tight. With a couple minutes to go, the Silverbacks regain the lead when Patrick Raftery finishes off a beautiful passing play.

In the third period, the Silverbacks add onto the lead, icing the game. After the BCHL media timeout, Tanner Walos grabs his second goal of the season when he finished off a rebound in the slot to extend the lead 4-2. With the net empty, Nathaniel Davis put the nail in the coffin by scoring his third of the year.

Eli Pulver returned to the win column, stopping 23/25.
