Silverbacks secure commitment from forward Riley Ashe

SALMON ARM, BC- The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce the commitment of forward Riley Ashe (’06) for the 2023-24 season.

The rookie finished last season with 8-goals and 30-assists, with a total of 38-points in 54 games with the Melfort Mustangs in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Ashe had an incredible rookie season and was rewarded with the DirectWest Rookie of the Year title. The 6’0 young product is committed to the University of Nebraska Omaha and the Silverbacks are excited to see what he can bring to the organization.

“Over the conversations getting to know Riley we felt it was a perfect fit to add a player like him to our line up,” said General Manager Brooks Christensen. “He competes hard, not afraid to battle and has high end skill that can help us this season. Coming off a big rookie year in the SJHL we are excited to see the impact he makes to our roster.”

In the SJHL, Ashe finished first in assists, and fifth in total points out of the rookie class throughout the 2022-23 regular season. The Warman, Saskatchewan born player is excited to further develop his skills and play for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the upcoming season.

“I am very proud to be in Salmon Arm next year, I know it’s a great organization and a great community,” said Ashe. “I look forward to working towards winning a championship with the team.”
