Silverbacks name 2023-24 captaincy group

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have named their captaincy group for the 2023-24 season.

Forward Nathan Mackie will once again lead this team as the captain. Mackie is heading into his third season with the Silverbacks, his second as captain, where he has scored 33 goals and 34 assists for 67 points in 100 games. Last year, the 19-year-old led the Silverbacks to their first Interior Conference finals berth since the 2010-2011 season.

Joining Mackie, the assistant captains are Isaac Lambert, Maddux Martin, Tristan Allen, and Marcus Broberg. Lambert is heading into his third season with the Silverbacks while putting up 56 points in 98 games. Martin is a home-town, Salmon Arm native who scored 11 points in his rookie campaign last year. Allen has played four seasons in the BCHL and is heading into his first full season with the Silverbacks after being acquired at the trade deadline last season. Broberg is suiting up for the Silverbacks for the first time this season, but the Sweden product spent last year split between the United States Hockey League (USHL) and the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

“The staff, as well as our players, believe this is the right group to lead us through the challenges of the season,” said Head Coach, Tyler Shattock. “We are confident this group will uphold their individual habits, daily standards, and push the group to do the same.”

Allen will serve as the assistant captain at home while Broberg will take the ‘A’ on the road.
