Silverbacks Move Zinger to AJHL’s Oil Barons

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have traded 2001-born forward Josh Zinger to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in exchange for future considerations.

The 5-foot-11 forward played in 13 games this season for the Backs, recording two goals and one assist.

“He’s a great kid and hard worker, so this was a tough decision for us, but we feel like he’s going to get a good opportunity in Fort McMurray,” Silverbacks assistant coach and assistant general manager Tanner Cochrane said. “Just didn’t think he’d get the opportunity to develop as well here as he will there. We hope for all the best for him and hope he does well in Fort McMurray.”

The Silverbacks would like to thank Zinger for his dedication to the Silverbacks and wish him well with his new organization.

A reminder that the Silverbacks are auctioning off their Remembrance Day jerseys to the public. For details on how to bid, either in person or online, click here.
