Silverbacks fall 4-2 to Trail in final regular season game

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks took on the Trail Smoke Eaters in the final game of the 2023/24 regular season.

The Silverbacks took the lead in the first period. Four and a half minutes in, Cash Carter for the Trail Smoke Eaters grabs the puck in the slot and scores his first career BCHL goal. The Silverbacks answered quickly. A minute later, Cole Cooksey takes a feed on the powerplay from the goalie, goes end-to-end, and beats the goalie on the breakaway to tie up the game, 1-1. The Silverbacks add to their lead four minutes later when Adam Boatter scores a goal in his second straight game for a 2-1 lead.

Smoke Eaters tie up the game early in the second. 20 seconds in, Adam Parsons sneaks into the slot and finishes off a chance in front to tie up the game, 2-2. Both teams had chances on the powerplay to finish the middle frame, with neither connecting.

Trail grabs to late goals for the win. With only three minutes left, former Silverback Mathieu Cobetto-Roy gets a feed in the slot and goes on a brief breakaway and snaps one home for the later, 3-2 lead. 30 seconds left, the Silverbacks pulled the goalie to push for the tie but Josh Schenk connects on the empty-netter to make it 4-2.

Tysen Smith stopped 32/35 shots in his BCHL debut and notched an assist.
