Silverbacks Aquire Gillespie

SALMON ARM B.C.: The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have acquired '03 forward Ryan Gillespie from the CCHL Brockville Braves in exchange for future considerations.

The Toronto native played 56-games last year with the Omaha Lancers in the USHL where he posted 3-goals and 12-assists. The six-foot-tall, 186 pound forward also recorded 41-points in 59-games with Brockville.

“Adding a veteran forward like Ryan to our roster we felt was very important going into the off season, says Silverbacks GM Brooks Christensen. "We feel he will fit right in with our returning group & new recruits and look to play a large role in our offensive production. Our staff is excited to work with Ryan developing him to be ready to make an immediate impact with Clarkson."

Salmon Arm Head Coach Tyler Shattock says he's excited to add Ryan to the team's forward group:

"We think with the right opportunity he will create a lot of offense for us. His skating and hockey intelligence will translate to our league and allow him to be successful right away."

Gillespie, who was named to the CCHL's All-Rookie Team in 2020, already has a NCAA commitment to play hockey with Clarkson University. He says he looks forward to joining the Silverbacks.

“I’m very excited to be joining a great organization that believes in my capabilities as a player and has consistently done a great job at developing players and moving them on to the next level."

Please join us in welcoming Ryan to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks organization.
