Salmon Arm, BC: The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce the signing of forward Reid Varkonyi (06) from Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep / CSSHL U18.
Last season, the Sherwood Park, Alberta product recorded 56-points with the Xtreme club including 23 goals and 23 assists. Varkonyi is committed to play college hockey at Denver University following his junior hockey career.

"Reid’s character is a perfect example of what we look for in a young player, he works hard every time he’s on the ice and presents himself like a pro off the ice. We are excited for fans to get to know Reid in our community!"
The 5'10", 180-pound centreman was drafted 2nd overall by the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL Futures Draft. Silverbacks Head Coach Tyler Shattock adds he's a very talented young player.
"We believe as a sixteen-year-old he can come in and contribute right away. We look forward to continuing Reid’s development as a player and person wearing a Silverbacks jersey."
