Seasoned SilverBack Committs

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are extremely proud to announce today that 19 year old Defenceman Brendan Kennedy has committed to play for the CIS' Queen's University Gaels, based out of Kingston, Ontario, starting next season.

Kennedy, a 3rd year SilverBack out of Terrace, British Columbia, has built a name for himself in the BCHL with his hard-nosed play and willingness to work in the toughest areas of the rink. He's also made a massive impact on the community of Salmon Arm with his non-stop efforts around the Shuswap.

With over 130 games of BCHL experience, 'Backs GM Troy Mick says Brendan and Queen's will be a nice fit "He may be a rookie when he steps foot on that campus, but those who have watched him play in Salmon Arm know that his leadership abilities will make him a veteran presence on the blue-line, very quickly."

"I am excited that Brendan will be joining our program here at Queen's for the 2014 season. He is a big, reliable kid who will only get better over time." Says Queen’s Head Coach Brett Gibson.

Brendan is quite excited about the next chapter in his hockey career, saying "The opportunity to go to such a prestigious school and play hockey at the same time was something I wasn't about to pass up. I couldn't be more excited."

The SilverBacks would like to congratulate Brendan, his parents Kevin, and Kathy, and the entire Kennedy family on this news, we know you will be a recognizable face around Salmon Arm for many years to come.
