Season Comes To An End

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks’ season is nearly over, following Friday’s 3-1 loss, at the hands of the Penticton Vees, the ‘Backs Evan Anderson had the lone Salmon Arm goal, in what was Fan Appreciation Night at the Shaw Centre.

Anderson opened the scoring in the 1st Period, thanks to work from his line-mates Alex Gillies, and Landon Smith, but the Vees were equal to the task on the evening, throwing 35 shots at the Salmon Arm goal in their eventual victory,

The Vees scored on the power-play, late in the 2nd Period, and opened the 3rd Period with a goal in the opening minutes. The Vees also padded their advantage with an empty-net goal at the end of the night.

The ‘Backs were looking to provide winning evening for fans, but tested the Penticton goalkeeper only 20 times in the defeat. Salmon Arm’s Angus Redmond was good for 33 saves on the night, including one memorable break-away save.

Salmon Arm heads to Penticton on Saturday, for their final game of the season. The ‘Backs Landon Smith continues to lead the league in points, with 81, ahead of the Vees Brad McClure, who has 80.
