Nathan Mackie commits to Michigan State University

Salmon Arm, BC – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce that 2004 born Forward, Nathan Mackie, has committed to Michigan State University (NCAA).

The 18 year old was named Captain of the Silverbacks prior to the 2022/23 season. The Prince George born forward is thriving during his second full season as a Silverback. Through 13 games this season, he has recorded 8 goals, and added 2 assists for 10 points.

He will become the fourth Silverback in team history to commit to Michigan State. Joining the likes of Taro Hirose, Damian Chrcek, and Matt Grassi.

Mackie says he couldn’t be more excited for the next step in his hockey career.
“After many conversations with my family, advisor, and coaches, I feel that Michigan State is a great fit for me and I couldn’t be more excited for the future.”

Silverbacks General Manager, Brooks Christensen, said that the commitment is well deserved.
“We couldn’t be happier for Nathan and his family to commit to a great program like MSU. Nathan has done a tremendous job stepping into a leadership role for our organization and shows up every day preparing himself like a pro. We are excited to see his path continue at the NCAA level.”
