Salmon Arm B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce the commitment of 16-year-old forward Nathan Mackie for the 2021-22 BCHL season.
The Prince George, B.C. native suited up for the Okanagan Rockets major midget team this season, where he managed to play just five games due to COVID, producing two goals and five assists for seven points.
The year prior he played at Okanagan Hockey Academy, scoring 14 goals and adding 10 assists in 33 games for their Elite 15 program, who compete in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U-16 division.
“Nathan impressed us with the impact he made back in September here at our camp,” Silverbacks general manager Brooks Christensen said. “We followed him closely when he started with the Okanagan Rockets and believe he has made the right steps in his development to be ready next season. He has a strong hockey IQ, great work ethic and a high compete level.”
The 5-foot-11, 162 lb. forward also scored three goals in three games for OHA in the 2020 playoffs.
The Silverbacks would like to welcome Nathan to Salmon Arm!
