Langenegger Named BCHL Player of the Week

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The BCHL has named Salmon Arm Silverbacks goaltender Ethan Langenegger the Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 13.

The 19-year-old Kamloops native won both of his starts this past weekend, stopping 53 of the 54 shots he faced and finishing with a .981 save percentage, a 0.49 goals-against average and one shutout, the first of his BCHL career.

On Friday, the Lake Superior State University commit made 33 saves on 34 shots in the Silverbacks 2-1 overtime win over the Chilliwack Chiefs and was named the first star. On Saturday, he stopped all 20 shots he faced in a 1-0 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings, eight of which came in the third period. He was once again named the game’s first star.

Langenegger is now tied for the second-most wins in the BCHL with eight and is sixth in the league in both save percentage (.930) and goals-against average (2.00). Of those who rank ahead of him in G.A.A. and SV%, he is the only one to have played 10 or more games.
