Box To Army Next Season

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are proud to announce that Captain, and 2nd year SilverBack Defenceman Blake Box has committed to the Army Black Knights, effective 2014-2015.

Box, a 20 year old native of Plano, Texas, signed with the SilverBacks early in the 2012-2013 season, immediately becoming a defensive key in the SilverBacks run to a Playoff spot in the Interior Division. The Right-handed Defender gained notoriety around the Shaw Centre thanks to his imposing size, and lumbering shot; posting 2 goals and 9 points over 46 games in his Rookie campaign away from home.

SilverBack fans have had fun watching this season, as their new Captain continues to emerge as one of the premier Defencemen in the BCHL; proven by his 11 points in 30 games, and consistent role in the 'Backs special teams play. General Manager Troy Mick says it's been a joy to watch Blake come into his own on the SilverBacks blue-line "Since Day 1 of training camp it's been obvious that Blake was ready to take the next step in his growth as leader, and a hockey player, and we're thrilled to see that his hard work and attitude towards the meaning of the game is being recognized by Army."

Box said Tuesday that "I couldn't be more excited about committing to West Point for next season. Thanks to all my friends and family for their support."

Troy Mick says it's a lesson for young, ambitious hockey players "Blake came a long, long way to join our program last season, and it's been through his consistent work-ethic, and determination that he's come to earn something as special as a chance to suit up for the Black Knights."

The SilverBacks organization would like to congratulate Blake, his parents Steve, and Allison; and their entire family on this news, here's to your continued success in the future and great finish to the season.
