Falcons Find Farny

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are very proud to announce that 18 year old Defenceman Andrew Farny has committed to play for Air Force, as of the 2015-16 season.

Farny, a native of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, joined the SilverBacks in the offseason, after three years at various levels of the Shattucks St.Mary's Hockey Program, where he impressed 'Backs scouts with an effective two way game on the blue line; that's he's now showing in Salmon Arm, with 3 goals, and 16 points at the mid-point of the season.

'Backs GM and Head Coach Troy Mick says Farny's transition to the BCHL has been attracting attention for all the right reasons "Andrew has quickly become an effective player, helping our blue-line, and special teams on a nightly basis with his skating ability, and vision of the ice."

Today's news means that two SilverBacks players have now committed to American Military programs this week alone, as Blake Box agreed to play for the Army Black Knights, just days ago.

Troy Mick says it's another example of the life skills that Junior 'A' hockey provides "There's nothing better for our coaching staff than to see players excel on the ice, and in the classroom, while building skills that will help them at the next level. We're very proud of Andrew, and what he's accomplished in his first season with our team, and as a person. We're quite excited about the future of his career within our organization, and Air Force."

The SilverBacks would like to officially congratulate Andrew, and his family on this great news, we know there will plenty of smiles to be shared over the Holiday season.
