Backs Welcome Vipers Friday Night

Searching for their first win of the pre-season, the Salmon Arm Silverbacks welcome the Vernon Vipers to the Shaw Centre Friday night.

The home side is 0-1-1 in exhibition play with a loss in West Kelowna last Friday night, before a close 3-2 overtime loss in Salmon Arm on Saturday. Vernon meanwhile is undefeated with a pair of wins against the Merritt Centennials.

Both games for the Silverbacks they faced rosters with a number of veterans on the other side. Friday West Kelowna played eight returnees and Friday they played seven. Salmon Arm on the other hand played five returning players and four 2002 born players (Warriors played none) Friday then just three on Saturday. In both games the Silverbacks would score once on the power play with Trevor Adams scoring Friday and Logan Shaw Saturday.

One item of note, there were NO duplicate players on Saturday’s roster as Friday’s for the Silverbacks, with it being their first two games of the preseason. Akito Hirose leads the team in scoring with one goal and one assist during Saturday night’s game.

This game is the first meeting for the two sides since Vernon swept Salmon Arm in the 2018 BCHL playoffs.
