Sam MacBean Acquired from Clippers

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks would like to announce that they have traded the rights to 20 year old netminder Kyle Dumba to the Nanaimo Clippers in exchange for defenceman Sam MacBean.

MacBean from Calgary, Alberta had four points last season for the Clippers. It was his first season in the league after coming over from the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He provides a big body on the back end standing at 6’3″ and weighing in at 180 lbs. MacBean is a product of the Edge School program.

“We are very pleased to announce the acquisition of defenceman Sam MacBean from the Nanaimo Clippers. Sam is a first class citizen who will help in our quest to establish the team culture we are in the process of constructing. Sam is also a good fit for our team on the ice, he is an accomplished defenceman who defends well, which is an area we have prioritized in the recruitment process,” said GM and Head Coach Scott Atkinson

Kyle Dumba spent last season with the Silverbacks posting a 9-18 record with a 4.00 goals against average and 0.892 save %.

The Silverbacks would like to welcome Sam to the team, and wish Kyle the best in his hockey future.
