Backs Get Commitment from Forward Cobetto-Roy

Salmon Arm B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are happy to announce the commitment of 17-year-old forward Mathieu Cobetto-Roy for the 2021-22 BCHL season.

The Outremont, Que. native spent the 2019-20 season at Bishop’s College in Sherbrooke, Que., where he scored 35 goals and added 26 assists for 61 points in 50 games for their prep team.

“We’re losing guys at the forward position and we think Mathieu is a guy who can come in and contribute right away,” Silverbacks head coach Tyler Shattock said. “His goal scoring ability was very appealing to us. He’s a guy who we think will come in and earn a scholarship right away.”

Bishop’s also played 17 games as a member of the Midwest Prep Hockey League in the 2019-20 season, where the 5-foot-11, 163 lb. forward recorded 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points.

“I believe this organization is the best fit for me,” Cobetto-Roy said. “Based off what I have heard and seen, the program has a very professional outlook on the game and I am certain it is a community that I can thrive in.”

The Silverbacks would like to welcome Mathieu to Salmon Arm!
