‘Backs Bumped In Surrey

The stakes will continue to rise in the SilverBacks race for a position in the Interior Playoff race, after Friday's 5-1 defeat in Surrey, at the hands of the Eagles.

Alex Gillies had Salmon Arm's lone goal, while Angus Redmond made 29 saves in the losing cause.

The Eagles Chase McMurphy, and Jonah Renouf both scored in the 1st Period of play for a 2-0 advantage on the home side; prior to Surrey's 2nd Period outburst that saw three goals, including two on the power-play, for a 5-0 score after 40 minutes.

Danton Heinen score both power-play markers for the Eagles, who were helped to the result by going 2-for-5 on the man advantage.

Salmon Arm's Landon Smith assisted on Gillies' 2nd Period goal, giving him 76 points on the season, which continues to lead the BCHL.

The inter-division game provided 28 minutes in Penalties in the 3rd Period, but no goals, as the Eagles out-shot Salmon Arm 33-29, at the South Surrey Arena.

The SilverBacks visit Coquitlam on Saturday evening, with hopes of splitting their weekend road-trip.

Salmon Arm also plays a pair of monumentus games next weekend, with a trip to Vernon on Friday, and a home date with Merritt, on Saturday.
