Backs Aim to Take 3-0 Series Lead as Series Shifts To Wenatchee

WENATCHEE, WA: The Salmon Arm Silverbacks hit the road for Games 3 and 4 as the series shifts to Wenatchee. The Backs took care of business at home with 6-3 and 6-2 victories. In Game 1, the Silverbacks erased a 2-0 deficit and scored three unanswered goals two separate times. In Game 2, the Backs struck early and often. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the middle frame. However, the Wild cut into that lead with two goals in six seconds, both off the stick of Cade Stibbe. Tucker Hartmann added an empty-net goal late in the third to ice the game for the Silverbacks. Owen Say has started both games for the Silverbacks and has stopped 50 of the 55 shots he faced in this series. Brandon Santa Juana’s suspension meant somebody needed to step up in his absence.  In Game 2, Owen Beckner slotted into the lineup for the first time in this series. He began the night on the top line with Noah Serdachny and Simon Tassy, and he opened the scoring. Santa Juana will serve his second of two games tonight and be available for the Silverbacks in Game 4. The Backs have outscored the Wild 9-3 at 5 on 5 in this series. The Silverbacks have had some success inside Town Toyota Center this season. In late November, the team visited Wenatchee for their only trip down south and took care of the Wild, winning all three games, outscoring them 13-4. Owen Say picked up First Career BCHL Shutout on that trip.

Noah Serdachny is off to a fast start in the Shaw BCHL Playoffs. Through two games, Serdachny leads the pack with six points. His three goals and three assist week were good enough to earn BCHL 1st Star of the Week! Tyler Shea will be looking to bounce back in goal for the Wenatchee Wild. He is coming off an ugly performance in Game 2, where he was pulled after allowing four goals on 15 shots. Ean Somoza and Stibbe lead the Wild in Playoff scoring with two points.
