Silverbacks shutout at home by Vipers, 2-0

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks came back from the All-Star break with a weekday game at home against the Vernon Vipers.

The first period started slow until the final couple of minutes. Throughout the first 18 minutes, both teams traded penalties with nobody able to capitalize on their opportunities. At the 18:00 mark of the opening frame, Isaac Tremblay forced an offensive zone turnover and shoveled home the unassisted goal to give the Vipers the 1-0 lead.

The Silverbacks couldn’t get on the board with two opportunities in the second. Within the first six minutes, the Silverbacks found themselves on two powerplays and couldn’t find the twine. Just past halfway through the middle period, Carson McGinley stripped the puck in the neutral zone and snapped one by on the breakaway for his first career BCHL goal.

The third period saw both teams take a couple of penalties and the Silverbacks ramp up the intensity. Despite putting up 39 shots, the Silverbacks couldn’t beat Ethan David.

Eli Pulver made 22/24 saves in the losing effort.
