Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks continue their Alberta road trip against the Brook Bandits.
It’s a tie game after the first period. In the first three minutes, Liam Fitzpatrick snipes the top corner to give the Bandits the 1-0 lead. Late in the frame, Tate O’Brien sends a point shot through traffic and finds the back of the net for his first career BCHL goal, tying the game, 1-1.
The Silverbacks take control in the second period. Halfway through, Aidan Shirey fires it on net which trickles under the arm of the goalie and sneaks into the net for his 3rd of the season, 2-1. In the final two minutes, Mateu Späth tips a shot into the twine for his 11th of the year, extending the lead, 3-1. With time running out and the Silverbacks on the powerplay, it’s Anthony Preskar’s turn to deflect a shot into the net in the final 3 seconds, for his 4th of the season, 4-1.
The wheels fall off in the third period. Early on, Liam Fitzpatrick scores his second of the game to cut into the lead, 4-2. 19 seconds later, storming back for a comeback attempt, Francois De Villiers finds the back of the net, making it a 4-3 game. Another quick goal sees the Bandits tie it up 4-4 with Alexei Zhukov scoring. Re-taking the lead, Harry Ahlberg scores halfway through the period to make it 5-4 for the Bandits. The Silverbacks take a penalty, sending Brooks back to the powerplay and they are able to take advantage again, with Jack Rosensteel scoring, 6-4. Not done yet, the Bandits score six unanswered goals in the third period when Harry Ahlberg gets his second of the game, 7-4.
Daniel Dirracolo stops 26/33 in the loss.
