Silverbacks swept by Crusaders, 6-2

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks were in Sherwood Park for the fourth and final game of the season against the Sherwood Park Crusaders, looking to get into the win column for the first time.

The Crusaders start the game hot in the first period. Three minutes in, Cooper Sharp rips the first goal of the game, 1-0 lead for Sherwood Park. Five minutes later, Joseph Sinclair takes advantage of a defensive miscue to extend the lead, 2-0. The Silverbacks get on the board when Scott Miner crashes in from the blue line and taps home a back door feed, his 2nd of the season, 2-1. In the final two minutes, Miles Burgin scores to regain the two goal lead, 3-1.

Both teams score in the second period as the Crusaders remain in control. Past the halfway mark, Erik Kald finds the back of the net from the slot, making it a 4-1 game. Just over a minute later, on the powerplay, Parker Deschene scores his first career BCHL goal when he unleashes a wrist shot off the post and in, 4-2.

Sherwood Park ices the game in the third period. With the Silverbacks on the penalty kill to start, thanks to a late second period Scott Miner interference penalty, Bode Sampair scores to make it a 5-2 game. In the final seven minutes, Erik Kald gets his second of the game with a shot from the point, 6-2 final.

Mikkel Christensen stops 22/28 in the loss.
