Silverbacks add experienced defenseman and forward

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce the signing of defenseman Cole Longacre (’06) and forward Ty Paisley (’04) for the 2023-24 season.

Longacre comes to Salmon Arm with a year of junior experience, spending last season with the Sioux City Musketeers in the United States Hockey League (USHL). In 50 games played, the Sewell, New Jersey native scored one goal and added in five assists for six points.

“Adding a young defenseman coming from a heavy Junior league we feel will help our defense core,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen. “We’re excited to have Cole in the lineup and add additional experience to our roster.”

The 17-year-old is committed to play for Merrimack College.

Paisley has spent the past two years in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) playing with his hometown Steinbach Pistons. Last season, Paisley scored 21 goals and 35 assists for 56 points in 51 games played while adding in 29 points in 18 playoff games to help lead the Pistons to win the MJHL championship.

“We have followed Ty’s path this past season and with his departure from the USHL we were thrilled to add him to our team,” said Christenson. “His experience last year going to the National Championship will help bring a veteran presence to our forward lineup”

The 19-year-old also suited up for Canada West at the U19 World Junior A Challenge, playing in three games.

Paisley is committed to the University of St. Thomas.

The Silverbacks would like to welcome Cole, Ty, and their families to the organization and to Salmon Arm.
