Silverbacks add another forward and goalie

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have signed F Jonah Aegerter (’04) and G Tysen Smith (’04).

Aegerter last played in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers earlier this season where he scored 3 goals and 3 assists in 14 games played. The Janesville, Wisconsin product played in a total of 77 USHL games, putting up 12 goals and adding in 19 assists.

“I am super excited to join the Silverbacks,” said Aegerter. “I am very grateful for the opportunity!”

Aegerter was also a part of Team USA in the 2021-22 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he scored 2 goals in 4 games played.

“Adding Jonah’s speed and playmaking ability along with his junior experience, we felt would help our group moving forward,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen. “We have a good balance in our forward group with young players and veterans and feel our players will benefit playing with a player like Jonah.”

Smith is joining the Silverbacks with Junior hockey experience, spending time in the AJHL, KIJHL, and recently the SJHL.

“I’m very grateful to be a part of such a great organization,” said Smith. “It’s an honour to be a Silverback. It’s an exciting time and I have high hopes for this season in Salmon Arm.”

The Prince George native last played with the Yorkton Terriers where he went 1-8 in 12 games played with a 4.79 GAA and a .870 SV%.

“When the opportunity presented itself to add a high-character kid such as Tysen, we felt as a group it was the right direction to go with adding a third goalie,” said Christensen. “Tysen will get lots of opportunities to work closely and learn from Angus, along with Eli & Ryan.”

The Silverbacks would like to welcome Jonah, Tysen, and their families to the organization and to Salmon Arm.
