PREVIEW: West Kelowna Warriors August 24th

FINALLY.

The offseason is always too long, but now it’s over. The Silverbacks are set to play their first game of the exhibition season tonight as they take on the West Kelowna Warriors. For West Kelowna it will be their second game of the pre-season after dropping a 3-1 decision at the hands of the Penticton Vees.

With this being the first game for Salmon Arm, it will be a mixture of returning players and newcomers attempting to crack the lineup.

In their game against Penticton, the lone Warriors goal came shorthanded by newcomer Cole Wyatt. The Northern Alberta X-Treme product was sprung on a breakaway, and was able to go five hole on the Vees netminder. Speaking of goalies, West Kelowna used. Starter Berk Berkeliev saw the majority of the action stopping 23 of the 25 shots he faced. Ethan Lahmon stopped all 17 shots against him, and Kolby Thornton who finished the game stopped seven of eight.

Tonight marks the first game Trevor Adams of the Silverbacks will be playing since committing last week to Air Force Academy for the 2020-2021 season.

Tomorrow the Silverbacks play their first of two home games in the Shaw Centre. It will be a 7pm start with West Kelowna coming to town.
