Newly Acquired Forward Morgan Commits to Dartmouth

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce that 18-year-old forward Nathan Morgan has committed to play NCAA Div. I hockey at Dartmouth College.

The Calgary, Alta. native was acquired last week from the Cowichan Valley Capitals and scored in his Silverback debut on Oct. 16 against the Vernon Vipers.

“I’m extremely proud to announce my commitment to further both my hockey and education career at Dartmouth College,” Morgan said. “A big thank you goes out to my past coaches, friends, teammates and especially my family, who have sacrificed ample amounts of time to make a dream like this come true.”

Morgan already has two years of Junior A experience under his belt. Last season, he recorded 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 54 games with the Grande Prairie Storm in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, which was good for third on the team in scoring. His 27 points ranked 15th in the entire AJHL last season amongst U-18 players.

“The Salmon Arm Silverbacks would like to congratulate Nathan on his commitment to Dartmouth — I know it’s an exciting time for him,” Silverbacks head coach Tyler Shattock said. “He’s got an offensive ability to his game but you also see the 200-foot ability. His game will translate to the college level just with how hard he plays and how good he is on the wall. He’s not just an offensive guy.”

The Dartmouth Big Green compete in the Ivy League and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Hockey League, composed of 12 total teams. Recently graduated Silverback forward Nick Unruh is currently in his freshmen season at Dartmouth, who have won 15 Ivy League titles.
