Matthew Verboon Named to Team Switzerland

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce forward Matthew Verboon has been named to Team Switzerland for the 2019 World Junior Championships. In his first year with the Silverbacks, Verboon leads the team in points (29) and goals (13).

Last season playing in Switzerland, Verboon with the U20 Genève-Servette won the league championship. A dual citizen, Verboon played for Team Switzerland last season in the U-18 World Junior Championships where he had two assists in six games.

Switzerland will kick the tournament off playing the Czech Republic on Boxing Day at 1:00pm. On the 27th, Verboon and his teammates take on Team Canada in Vancouver at 5pm in Rogers Arena.

Salmon Arm last had a player at the World Juniors in 2009 when Conor Morrison suited up for Germany.
