Salmon Arm, B.C. – Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Mateu Späth has been named to Team Germany’s preliminary roster for the 2025/26 World Junior Hockey Championship in Minneapolis, MN.
From Ostfildern, Germany, Späth has joined the Silverbacks and been one of the best offensive contributors on this team, putting up over a point-per-game so far, 6 goals and 9 assists in 14 games played.
“I am really happy and honoured to get a chance to make the team,” said Späth. “Playing in the World Juniors would be a dream come true!”
The 18-year-old has represented Team Germany a few times, including winning gold at the 2023/24 World Juniors D1A where he scored 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games.
Team Germany will play two pre-tournament games on December 20 and 21 before making a final cut from their 26-man roster.
