Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks played their second game of the season in Blackfalds against the Bulldogs.

The Silverbacks get on the board first to take the lead. At the 8:25 mark, Jared Rothman hammers home a rebound for his 3rd of the year, to get the Silverbacks the early 1-0 lead. The opening frame was physical with the teams trading roughing penalties and at the buzzer three penalties handed out for a scrum after the whistle, letting the Silverbacks start the second period with a powerplay.

Keeping the lead in the second, both teams find the net. Four minutes in, Thomas Neu gets one into the net to tie up the game, 1-1. Two minutes later, Koen Senft crashes down the left wing, taking a shot, following his own rebound and fires it far shot from a sharp angle to retake the lead, 2-1. It was Senft’s 3rd of the season.

The Bulldogs strike for two in the third to tie up the game. Once again tying this game up, Nikita Ivashchenko sends it blocker side into the twine, 2-2. For the third time this game the Silverbacks take the lead when Brady Logue finds the open net with the goalie down on the ice in a scramble in front for his 5th of the year, 3-2. Not going away, in the final 5 minutes, Matthew Croxall tips a point shot in front to tie this game and send it to overtime, 3-3.

In the first five minutes of overtime, the Bulldogs force the turnover behind the net and fire it back post for Joey Melo to tap it in for the win.

Mikkel Christensen takes the loss, stopping 28/32 against his former team.
