Getting Down To The Wire

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks will continue their search for the 4th spot in the Interior, with the Merritt Centennials in town on Saturday; one day after the 'Backs 3-2 OT loss in Vernon, at the hands of the 3rd Place Vipers.

Salmon Arm managed to out-shoot Vernon 37-32, and had all four power-plays in the game, but the Vipers were persistent, coming from two goals behind for the victory on home ice.

Landon Smith and Alex Gillies opened the scoring for Salmon Arm in the 1st Period, but the Vipers Colton Sparrow and Josh Bryan were equal to the task with goals that tied the game at 2-2 after 40 minutes.

The 'Backs Angus Redmond made 8 saves in a score-less 3rd Period, while Vernon's Austin Smith was good for 13 saves of his own in the final frame.

Vernon's T.J Dumonceaux had the eventual winner in over-time, as the Vipers topped the SilverBacks in the final game of the season between the two clubs.

The loss puts the 'Backs four points behind Merritt in the Interior, with the Centennials visiting the Shaw Centre on Saturday for a crucial game.
