Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are happy to announce a two-year extension of General Manager, Brooks Christensen.
“On behalf of myself, Dale Unruh, and our partnership group at Salmon Arm Sports Inc, we are thrilled to have Brooks continuing with the Silverbacks organization,” said Norine Romanchuk, Controller of the Silverbacks. “We acknowledge Brooks’s proven dedication and hard work to bring a winning culture and a first-class Junior A hockey program to Salmon Arm. Brooks is an integral part of our organization and we hope it continues for many years to come.”
Christensen is heading into his fifth season as the General Manager of the Silverbacks and is ready for the upcoming season.
“I’m thrilled to be back for another two years with this great organization,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen. “We’ve got a fantastic staff returning, that I’m excited to work with, to accomplish our program’s goals this upcoming season. I’d like to thank the ownership group for putting their trust in me to continue growing this program on the ice and in the community. We will continue to impact our community by having our players & staff be involved in as many off-ice functions as possible. A sincere thank you to all our amazing fans, volunteers, billets, corporate partners, and arena staff for their continued support.”
The Salmon Arm local was named the GM ahead of the 2019-2020 season and has since led the organization through the COVID pod season and the team’s first conference finals berth since the 2008-2009 season. During his four seasons as GM, the team has qualified for all eligible playoffs, advancing from the first round in three seasons, aside from the COVID pod season.
Christensen has been a part of the Silverbacks organization since 2015 when he started as the Assistant Coach and Video Coach. Throughout his seven seasons with the team, he has taken on the roles of Assistant Coach, Video Coach, Marketing Director, and presently Governor and General Manager.
