?BACKS WELCOME IAN DOUGLAS BACK AS THE VOICE OF THE SILVERBACKS

For Immediate Release                   May 14, 2014

Salmon Arm, BC – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks Hockey Club is pleased to officially announce the return of Ian Douglas as the voice of the ‘Backs. Ian Douglas is a seasoned play-by-play personality with impressive broadcast experience and enthusiasm and a welcomed addition to our team as our official announcer and blogger.

Ian Douglas’ experience can best be described as versatile. With over nine seasons of Junior Hockey and Lacrosse play-by-play experience under his belt with the WHL in Kamloops and also with the BCHL in Trail, plus more than 10 years in one of the most respected Radio Newsrooms in Western Canada, fans will be able to count on great play-by-plays and team blogs.

Silverbacks General Manager & Head Coach Troy Mick said, “Ian was our pinch hitter so to speak last year when we unexpectedly were in need of an announcer on game nights. He stepped in and did a fantastic job and we are thrilled to welcome him on board as the voice of the Silverbacks. We’re also looking forward to his pre and post-game insights, reviews and news on our team blog.”
Ian Douglas has almost 15 years experience in radio and 10 years in radio and webcasting. His track record includes play-by-play of a Kamloops Blazers WHL regular season game as well as many nights as colour commentary and host of the live coach’s show. He’s put in six seasons of play-by-play for the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s Chase Chiefs and Kamloops Storm and four seasons of play-by-play for the Kamloops International Bantam Hockey Tournaments in Kamloops, BC 2011-2014.

Ian Douglas explained his start by saying, “My journey began in Kamloops when I was working with NL Broadcasting in Grade 11, thanks to a mandatory high school work experience program. I have enjoyed working with NL over the past 15 years with our WHL Blazer's broadcasts and have been given the opportunity to do colour commentary, live intermission and post-game interviews during the broadcast. When Troy Mick called on me last year I was more than happy to step in and really enjoyed working with the team. I’m looking to teaming up with the ‘Backs in the upcoming season.”

Welcome to the Silverbacks Ian!
