The Salmon Arm SilverBacks 2013 Main Camp is in full swing following a day of on- and off-ice activities at the Shaw Centre.
About 55 players took part in two team practices Monday morning following a fitness testing session Sunday, then took to the ice in the first of two intra-squad scrimmages Monday evening.
Returning forward Evan Anderson's third-period goal proved the difference as Team White edged Team Black 3-2. The Michigan Tech commit's two-point night accented a White effort that saw two breakaway goals in the final five minutes of the second period after returning netminders Adam Clark (White) and Angus Redmond (Black) both turned in shutout performances in the first.
Veterans Jeff Kennedy and Josh Bowes scored for Black, who will seek redemption Tuesday when the two teams square off again (7:00 pm, Shaw Centre).
The SilverBacks annual Black & White game is set for Wednesday afternoon (2:30, Shaw Centre) before the first wave of re-assignments occurs Wednesday evening.
Salmon Arm opens its 2013-14 exhibition schedule Thursday in Merritt before returning home Friday, August 23rd to host the Vernon Vipers (7:00 pm, Shaw Centre).
