Backs Battle Vipers in Final Meeting of Season

SALMON ARM, BC: The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are looking to continue their winning ways on the road tonight in Vernon. They are unbeaten on the road this season and own the best road record in the BCHL with a 12-0-1 record. This will be the final meeting of the season between the Silverbacks and the Vipers; up to this point, the Backs have taken care of business against their rivals. So far this season, they have won six of the seven matchups. The most recent coming on January 2nd. It was a 4-1 victory for the Backs. Ironically, that was the last time the Silverbacks played in front of their home fans inside the Shaw Centre. In the Silverback’s most recent game, they rolled into Penticton and defeated them 5-2. It was the second consecutive time they ousted the Vees in their own building.

Players to Watch
Brandon Santa Juana: He extended his point streak to seven games straight in that 5-2 against the Vees and also extended two other streaks in the process. Five straight games with an assist and five consecutive multi-point games. Santa Juana sits third in team scoring with 33 points in 28 games.

Nathan Morin: He seems to have gotten better each game post-Christmas break. Picked up an assist in the last meeting vs Vipers.

Simon Tassy: Seven goals, six assists in seven against Vipers this season. Five multi-point efforts. Tassy leads the pack in the BCHL scoring race with 49 points in 28 games.

A Look At The Opposition:
It’s been a tough go for the Vipers this season. They sit near the cellar in the Interior Division with a 9-14-6 record. Although, they have won their last two games, a 9-1 victory against Merritt and a 2-1 shootout win Wednesday night at home against Trail. At home this season, the Vipers are just above .500 with an 8-7-1 record.
